The Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Digital Governance proceed with the digitization of weather conditions certificates issue via gov.gr. This way, the procedure regarding the National Institute of Meteorology is simplified and accelerated, since citizens are no longer required to visit the National Institute of Meteorology, but they could submit their request online, through the service “Weather conditions certificate”, under the category “Citizen and Everyday Life” and sub-category “Natural Disasters”.

The action was implemented in the context of the related Common Ministerial Decisions of the Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos and the Minister of State and Digital Governance Mr. Kyriakos Pierrakakis, and it was designed by the Secretariat General of the Digital Governance and Simplification of Procedures and the National Institute of Meteorology.

Weather conditions certificates constitute evidence for a series of procedures, mainly with regard to the certification that the damages under insurance were caused by a weather phenomenon. Their online issue comes to supplement the services that operate through the use of digital one-stop-shops both for the citizen and the service. One-stop-shops of the state agencies constitute a new, modern and efficient way of the citizen’s communication with the Public Administration. It has to do with “online mailboxes”, in which the services will accept documents and requests dispatched by the citizens through gov.gr.

So, once the person concerned is identified through his personal access codes on Taxisnet and enters the service, he will fill out the area and the time that the natural phenomenon occurred and submit the request, which will automatically be registered in the one-stop-shop of the National Institute of Meteorology on gov.gr.

After the process of the request, the citizen will be informed on the cost of the certificate by the National Institute of Meteorology, he will deposit an electronic fee and he will be informed through an e-mail and SMS on its issue, so that he can receive it through his one-stop-shop on gov.gr.

The project was implemented by the National Network of Technology and Research Infrastructures (EDYTE SA-GRNET), an agency supervised by the Ministry of Digital Governance and the Secretariat General of the Public Administration Information Systems of the Ministry of Digital Governance.
