The withdrawal of the Special Composition Battalion, Afghanistan from Kabul that was present there since February 17th 2002 with the posting of 15 Officers and 34 NCOs of the Hellenic Force/Afghanistan.
Along with the repatriated personnel, the entire materiel and means were also brought back from Afghanistan, while money save, due to the withdrawal, comes up to € 6,800,000 in relation to 2011 and to € 7,700,000 in relation to 2010.
During their stay in Afghanistan, the Hellenic Force/Afghanistan as well as the Special Composition Battalion built construction projects – reconstruction and improvement of infrastructure and of the airport in the city of Kabul. Moreover, they participated in the training of Afghan soldiers, and to the distribution of humanitarian aid.
It is underlined that the support offered to the 299 Mobile Field Surgical Hospital (the 299 Mobile Field Surgical Hospital was developed on July 26 2005, in Kabul, and the Hellenic Force/Afghanistan was renamed in Special Composition Battalion) was very important as far as sanitation is concerned, in both personnel and the rest of the ISAF Force, and the Afghan citizens.
The composition of the Hellenic Force/Afghanistan and the Special Composition Battalion was achieved with the participation of 33 missions (3,295 personnel) and in all lasted from 3 to 6 months.
